What's cooking in Puglia

A Food Styling + Recipe Development + Photography Workshop in Italy

Come join Joann Pai, Gabriel Cabrera, Jodi Moreno and Jennifer Chase for a four day workshop in the Southern Italian countryside. We can't wait to welcome you to this strikingly beautiful and less touristed part of Italy. Picture olive groves and vineyards, whitewashed houses and dramatic seaside towns. It is an ideal setting for cooking and styling and visual storytelling.

Stay

We’ll be staying at 16th century farmhouse, 5 km from the sea. This farmhouse (masseria) has whitewash stone walls, rustic modern interiors, a large beautiful pool and an ancient century kitchen we will be using for photoshoots!  It's a truly special place.

Eat

Meals are made from fresh ingredients chosen from the property’s vegetable gardens, olive groves, vineyards, orchards and the nearby sea.

The mornings will start with an abundant breakfast of jams prepared from the farm's fruit trees, breads fresh from the oven, and eggs.  In the evenings we’ll gather around a large common table full of delicious food and wine and conversations under a star filled sky.

Learn and Create

Our days will be spent creating beautiful content. We will be teaching you to tell stories with food and photography, from planning to execution. This is a hands-on class. You will get lots of time to practice, learn some great tricks and foolproof techniques… all while learning to create your own recipes and making your own beautiful pictures for your portfolio. In addition to styling, photographing, recipe development, and learning social media strategies, we will visit local producers and style a story in a charming cove.

Explore

In between action packed sessions filling our heads with as much information as possible, we are going to get out and explore the Masseria’s stunning landscape.  We'll forage for herbs, flowers, wild asparagus and other edible greens to use in our styling and cooking.

On our third day, we will travel to the coast passing through the beautiful Puglia countryside. You are going to be glad that you have your cameras because it is gorgeous!!  Picturesque villages with whitewashed houses and endless olive groves dot the landscape.  We’ll stop along the way to take photos and sample local specialties. Arriving at the port, we will board our own private sailing boat to cruise along the enchanting Adriatic coast!! Our cruise will stop at a hidden cove where we will create and style a beautiful picnic to photograph.
